We are delighted to launch our UK scholarship award 2016!
Our award, which is in its fifth year will offer an aspiring chef the opportunity to study right here, in our London flagship school and begin their culinary career with the coveted Diplôme de Pâtisserie, followed by a 3 month Diploma in Culinary Management and internship with Clare Smyth MBE. Clare is about to begin a new chapter and launch her own restaurant. She previously was Head Chef at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Chelsea for the past six years and became the first British female chef to hold and retain 3 Michelin Stars.
With all the fantastic partnerships Le Cordon Bleu has made over its 120 years, we have been privileged enough to team up with some of the UK’s most recognised chefs from around the country to find our next winner.
Here at Le Cordon Bleu, we are always looking at trends and reviewing the industry to see how we can help new talent to reach their potential. With our scholarship we hope to be able to help tackle the lack of chefs in the industry, which according to skills development agency people 1st could require “a predicted 11,00 new chefs by 2020.”
Head Pâtisserie Chef, Julie Walsh shares her views on the industry and our scholarship:
“The Scholarship offers a life changing opportunity for someone who has a passion for pâtisserie. There has never been a more relevant time than now, when the hospitality industry is experiencing a drastic shortage of young chefs with relevant training in traditional techniques. Studying with like minded people and being taught by renowned Le Cordon Bleu Master Chefs will ignite a student’s passion to achieve above and beyond their expectations. Combined with the fabulous opportunity to gain experience in one of London’s finest kitchens during their internship, there really is no better way for them to take the first step on the ladder when it comes to finding their dream job.”
In addition to the Diplôme de Pâtisserie and Diploma in Culinary Management, the Scholarship Award includes accommodation in central London courtesy of our partner Urbanest.
