General Information

What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus affecting humans. The effect on people who contract COVID19 varies. Some people experience no symptoms, others experience mild to moderate flu-like symptoms, others become seriously ill and require treatment in a hospital. Vulnerable groups (e.g. the elderly or people who are already unwell) are at higher risk of experiencing severe symptoms.
Le Cordon Bleu Australia's Response
Our first priority is the health and wellbeing of students and staff. Le Cordon Bleu Australia is closely monitoring advice from relevant authorities and we are following all directions provided by the Australian Government. Our critical incident policies and protocols are comprehensive and well-tested. We act quickly, with an abundance of caution and with full transparency, in response to a risk to the health and safety of students or staff. We are providing our students and staff with all the information and facilities they need to practice good hygiene and social distancing measures. Each campus has put in place activities for the safety and wellbeing of our students, including: • Frequent sanitisation of public spaces, door handles, hard surfaces, toilets, classroom furniture, kitchens, etc • Masks are required in some settings • Hand sanitiser, disinfectant wipes, paper towels supplied at the beginning of each class • Classrooms and exam rooms set with adequate space between students • Consistent engagement from all educators with students about hygiene and social distancing • Reasonable adjustment for student assessments • Continue to provide counselling and student services.
Can overseas students travel to Australia?
Fully vaccinated eligible visa holders are able to travel to Australia without a travel exemption, including holders of the Subclass 500 Student visa.
What requirements will I have to meet?
Be fully vaccinated and travel no earlier than seven days after receiving a completed dose of an approved or recognised vaccine. The approved or recognised vaccines are:
- Two doses at least 14 days apart of:
- AstraZeneca Vaxzevria
- AstraZeneca Covishield
- Pfizer Comirnaty
- Moderna Spikevax
- Sinovac Coronavac
- Bharat Biotech Covaxin
- Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV (for 18-60 years old)
- Or one dose of:
  - Johnson & Johnson/Janssen-Cilag COVID Vaccine.
Provide proof of your vaccination status

Hold a valid Subclass 500 Student visa or other eligible visa

You may also need to provide additional information required by the state or territory to which you are travelling. You can find more information about local requirements here.
How can I provide proof of my COVID-19 vaccination?
If you were vaccinated in another country, you will need to present a certificate of vaccination in a format that meets the following criteria:
- Issued by a national or state/provincial-level authority or an accredited vaccination provider
- Written in English or accompanied by a certified translation
- Containing at a minimum:
  - your name as it appears in your passport
  - either your date of birth or passport number
  - the vaccine brand name; and
  - the date of each dose or the date on which a full course of immunisation was completed.
Paper and digital certificates are equally acceptable.

Do I have to quarantine?
You will have to comply with the quarantine requirements of the state of your arrival and any other state to which you plan to travel.

Travellers may only enter and travel between NSW, Victoria and the ACT without quarantining. If you wish to travel to another state or territory, please check the specific local information.
What are the pre-departure COVID-19 test requirements?
You must provide evidence of a negative pre-departure polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test within 3 days before your flight’s scheduled departure. The Australian Government continues to review this requirement taking into account the most recent scientific evidence.

Will my study plan change?
Study plans are course-specific. Speak to your campus academic administration staff or email Student Services if you have any concerns about your study plans (program structure).
How will my industry placement be affected by COVID-19?
The Australian hospitality industry is easing restrictions. However, all businesses are required to keep their premises safe and minimise the risk of infection. Employers are therefore requiring students at work placements on their premises to be fully vaccinated prior to commencing Industry Placement. The states of New South Wales and Victoria have announced vaccination requirements for workers and interns, and in Queensland the same measures will come into place on 17 December 2021. The Industry Engagement team are completely committed to ensuring your safety and welfare both on and off campus and are always available to assist you with any inquiries you may have.
What if I’m not ready to start in January?
If you’re not quite ready to travel to Australia just yet, please contact our Admissions team if you are a new student, or the appropriate Student Services team to discuss your options.
