Admissions Requirements

 

Age
An applicant must be 18 years old or above; there is no upper age limit.

 

Secondary education as base entry qualification
The minimum academic requirement for Le Cordon Bleu London Certificates, Grand Diplôme, Diplôme de Cuisine Diplôme de Pâtisserie and Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management students is a high school diploma or equivalent, and no prior culinary experience is required.

Diploma in Culinary Management students must have first completed a Le Cordon Bleu diploma or Grand Diplôme or equivalent culinary qualification. If an applicant is not a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, a Recognition of Prior Learning form with relevant certification and an interview with a lecturer will be required. A Recognition of Prior Learning form may be requested by sending an email to london-admissions@cordonbleu.edu.

 

English Language
If you require a Tier 4 visa, please provide an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) for UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) test report result with 5.5 or above in all components.

Tier 4 Visa

You only require a Tier 4 Student Visa if

- You do not hold a European Economic Area nationality (European Union Countries, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein)

and

- You are applying for a course that is over 6 months in duration

and

- You do not currently have a visa in another immigration category which has no restrictions on study, and this visa will be valid for the length of your course.


Other prospective students, who do not require a Tier 4 Visa, should provide the school with one of the following:

  • English language certificate equivalent to CEFR level B2
  • Academic transcript of a completed course taught in English
  • Employment history in an English language environment
  • Cambridge English placement test (provided by Le Cordon Bleu) with telephone interview.

Nationals of English-majority speaking countries are exempt from providing evidence of English-language proficiency.

Non-Tier 4 Visa

You do not require a Tier 4 Student Visa if:

- You either hold a European Economic Area nationality (European Union Countries, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein)

or

- You are applying for course that is under 6 months in duration (for example:  Intensive Diplôme de Cuisine, Intensive Diplôme de Pâtisserie, Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management)

or

- You currently have a visa in another immigration category which has no restrictions on study, and this visa will be valid for the length of your course.

 

Enrolment & Application Deadlines

 

Students who need to apply for a visa will require sufficient time to obtain the visa successfully. It can take more than six weeks after your visa application in some countries, therefore students are advised to complete their enrolment as early as possible and no later than 12 weeks prior to the start of the course.

Apply Online:

  1. Visit Programs & Apply. Choose your programme of interest and follow the steps.

 

Email Application:

  1. Download your application form.
     
  2. Print it, complete it by hand and scan it
  3. Gather all supporting documents listed below:
    • CV/ Resume
    • Letter of Motivation (300-500 words)
    • Passport copy (colour)
    • Passport photo (colour)
    • Proof of English proficiency
    • Enclose a non-refundable application fee: £1,500 for Grand Diplôme, Cuisine or Pâtisserie Diploma, Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management; £500 for Diploma in Culinary Management, or £500 per Certificate (to be deducted from tuition fees)
    • For Diploma in Culinary Management applications only, please include evidence of attending and attaining prior Le Cordon Bleu Certificates or Diplomas (photocopies only Le Cordon Bleu will retain these)
  4. Scan all supporting documents
  5. Send all scanned documents by email to london-admissions@cordonbleu.edu

The London admissions team will be in touch to confirm receipt of your application. Only complete applications will be assessed. We will normally have a result for you within 5 working days. More about our step by step application process

What happens next:
the admissions process explained


  1. The application form and documentation is received by Le Cordon Bleu
  2. A notification email “Approval by Admissions Jury” will be sent to you
  3. The application fee will be collected if it has not already been paid
  4. A Letter of Offer will be sent to you by email
  5. You will then be able to accept your offer by clicking on the electronic accept button which will be located on the second page of the letter
  6. Once the payment has been received by us (some international transfers take some days), we will send you a confirmation of enrolment letter by email
  7. If a visa is required, please note the following:
    • Short-study visa – you can start your visa application with the PDF Confirmation of Enrolment letter
    • Tier 4 visa – before we assign a CAS with the Home Office for you, we will email you to ask if your required documents are ready for your visa application
  8. Orientation is mandatory for all new students. We look forward to welcoming you!
