Why Hilton Sydney employs Le Cordon Bleu graduates

Over 100 Le Cordon Bleu students have undertaken industry placement (Work Integrated Learning) at luxury five-star Hilton Hotel in Sydney since 2011.

Executive Sous Chef Matteo Verzi who works at the Hilton Sydney is thrilled to take Le Cordon Bleu students during their industry placements. He sees it as an opportunity to observe potential employees in the workplace, to assess their skills and strengths and see how they perform as part of the team.

Matteo’s advice to aspiring chefs and hospitality students is: “Bring your passion to work, that’s essential.”

A proud alumnus, Matteo graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa with a Grand Diplôme (cuisine & pâtisserie) in 2009, and knows first-hand the high quality and calibre of a Le Cordon Bleu education.

Why Hilton Sydney employs Le Cordon Bleu graduates

Matteo says: “I employ Le Cordon Bleu graduates at the Hilton Sydney because they do an industry placement with us. We are able to see how they work, and we are very happy to hire them because of the skills Le Cordon Bleu gives them.”

Work Integrated Learning benefits students, educators, government, and industry by contributing to the development of a highly-skilled hospitality workforce with long-term positive outcomes for the tourism and hospitality industry.

Industry partners who participate in Le Cordon Bleu’s Work Integrated Learning programme receive ongoing advice and support from Le Cordon Bleu Australia’s WIL team to identify students and graduates suited to an organisation, promote available industry placements, develop organisation-specific internship programmes, and network with students at Career Fairs.

Le Cordon Bleu is grateful for the remarkable contribution of our industry partners in supporting our students and industry.
