Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand was honoured to host the amazing Turkish Cuisine Masterclass in partnership with the Embassy of Turkey in New Zealand.
Held in Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand Demonstration Kitchen on 19th May 2022, the exciting masterclass offered attendees both culinary and cultural experience. The event aims to provide an amazing window to the unique Turkish cooking culture.
Ambassador of Turkey, H.E Mrs Ömür Ünsay, graced Le Cordon Bleu staff and students with her presence and opened the event. The masterclass was conducted by Chef Ozcan Kurt with the help of Ms. Sakine Sabah, and Le Cordon Bleu students; Katie Cathro and Elizabeth Charlton.
Students, staff, and the Diplomatic Corps and their spouses, had the opportunity to taste three traditional Turkish dishes; karniyarik, hoşaf, and dolma - all packed with legendary Turkish flavours reflecting centuries-old knowledge and Turkish cultural heritage.
Following the masterclass, her excellency, H.E Mrs Ömür Ünsay, presented a grastronomy book: Turkish Cuisine with Timeless Recipes (Asırlık Tariflerle Türk Mutfağı), which draws attention to the famous Turkish cuisine and its waste-free, ecological and sustainable characteristics. This recipe book is an initiative by the Turkey President’s wife, Mrs Emine Erdoğan, and will be available for Le Cordon Bleu students’ perusal at the Le Cordon Bleu library.
Turkish Cuisine masterclass was in line with the Turkish Cuisine Week celebrated in Turkey and abroad. It aims to showcase Turkish dishes with all their original qualities as the crown of Turkish tables.
