Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide welcomed The Hon. Steven Marshall MP Premier for SA to our recent Career Expo, who spoke of imminent industry growth and hospitality job opportunities for South Australia in 2020. Opening the event with an encouraging welcome speech, the Premier praised our students for their professionalism, enthusiasm and work-readiness.
In its 4th year, the Career Expo (facilitated by Le Cordon Bleu Industry Engagement Team) bridges the gap between education and industry, uniting representatives from around 30 leading hospitality and tourism organisations with our skilled hospitality students to discuss potential job and Industry Placement opportunities.
100 Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide students met with local and international hotel, restaurant & tourism representatives eager to discuss potential careers with new talent. Students took advantage of opportunities to be interviewed for employment and Work Integrated Learning placements, and advanced their careers by seeking direct industry-specific advice.
Career Expo has an excellent track record with around 60-80 students securing jobs or placements in previous years, providing a steady stream of Le Cordon Bleu trained professionals to meet the current skills shortage within Australia’s thriving hospitality and tourism industry.
An impressive network of industry partners keen to talk to students about recruitment processes, industry placement, and work opportunities, included leading establishments such as: HYATT HOTELS, ACCOR & Qantas Club, Mount Lofty House, TFE Hotels, Delaware North, IHG, Journey Beyond, Majestic Hotels, Hentley Farm, Marriott International, Ovolo Hotels, Crystalbrook Collection (Cairns), Adelaide Oval, SKYCITY Adelaide, Robertson Lodges, Hamilton Island Enterprises, The Star Entertainment Group, The Langham Melbourne, Four Seasons Sydney, Crown Resorts, The Lucas Group, Stamford Hotels & Resorts, Mayfair & Adabco Hotel Adelaide, Plus 82 Group.
Le Cordon Bleu Australia gratefully acknowledges the efforts of all industry partners who provide invaluable support and ongoing career development opportunities to Le Cordon Bleu students and alumni.
What students say about Career Expo
“I’ve found it so valuable to meet the industry partners face-to-face which helps with expectations, on both sides! At last year’s Career Expo, I was offered an 8-week volunteer programme at the Mayfair Hotel. Today, I had an interview with Henley Farm, which I’m really excited about - I love their work using local ingredients and unique presentation.”
Rachel Oh, Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide student, Advanced Diploma in Patisserie
"There are so many opportunities here to expand my career, I’ve just had an interview with Crowne Perth for a Food and Beverage Attendant role!"
Mariza Nieto (Left), Bachelor of Business (International Restaurant Management)
I met with Robertson Lodges (NZ) today to talk about my overseas industry placement with them. I’m so excited about travelling to New Zealand
