Gosset Matchmakers 2021 Winners Announced

We were delighted to host the finals of Gosset Matchmakers 2021 at our Cord restaurant on September 14th. Teams from Fischers - Baslow Hall, 97 Pall Mall, The Creameries, Sketch and Where the Light Gets In all competed to take the winning spot, with Le Cordon Bleu London's Wine Development Manager chairing the judging panel.

A mystery box of ingredients added an interesting aspect to the finals, from which the contestants had to create their second dish paired with a Gosset Grande Millésime 2012. All creations had to use Berkswell sheep's milk cheese in their dish, along with a range of other ingredients available.

After much deliberation, the judging panel announced the team from Fischers, Baslow Hall as the winner of the 2021 Gosset Matchmakers. The winning teams dish was a combination of the seasonal Japanese flavours which Fischers is known for: Hand-dived Orkney scallop with nori salt, baked celeriac, fermented ceps, XO sauce, umeboshi furikake. Sommelier Matthew Davison and Chef Adam Eyre were able to create just as much excitment in their mystery box dish: Dover sole with mushroom and bean fricassee, black garlic purée and Berkswell cheese and cream velouté.

The runner-ups in order were: 97 Pall Mall, The Creameries, Sketch and Where the Light Gets In. Will Oatley, MD of Gosset’s importers, Louis Latour Agencies said of the competition: "We started this in 2016 and its just got better and better over the last six years."
