Alumni Video Series: Meet
Vishwanath Nayak

Vishwanath worked as a dental technician for almost 10 years, but knew there was something more out there for him in the world of gastronomy. With a family background in entrepreneurship, Vish decided to take the plunge and enrol in a Bachelor of Business degree with Le Cordon Bleu Australia. He is now working his dream job as a brewer for one of South Australia’s leading breweries.

“When researching potential schools and campuses to make my dream a reality, I came across a video promoting Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide’s campus,” he recalls.

“The idea of brewing beer, designing labels and learning about marketing filled me with excitement, and I knew I had to jump at this opportunity to learn from the best.”

He says the Bachelor of Business program was a great way to gain a blend of practical and theoretical knowledge, allowing him to be well-prepared for the industry upon graduation.

“The hands-on approach to learning allowed me to develop practical skills and gain real world experience, which has been instrumental in my career as a brewer,” he says.

“I highly recommend Le Cordon Bleu to anyone considering a career in the hospitality industry.

“The combination of expert lecturers, industry placements and a comprehensive curriculum provided me with a well-rounded education and one I will never forget.”

The Industry Engagement team also proved beneficial for Vish, who says they worked diligently to secure the best opportunities for him.

“These placement experiences were invaluable, allowing me to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-world brewing operations.”

Vish successfully graduated in 2018 and is now working at Pirate Life – a South Australian brewery offering a wide variety of beer styles, from hop-forward IPAs to rich stouts and refreshing lagers.

“What I love most about my job as a brewer is the opportunity to be creative and explore diverse flavours and brewing techniques,” he says.

“Brewing is a perfect blend of science and art, and it brings me immense satisfaction to contribute to the craft beer industry.”

In his five years since graduating, Vish has gone from strength to strength, proving you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.

His biggest career highlight to-date is creating a mango smoothie sour for his former workplace, Big Shed Brewing, which sold out in two weeks.

He even had the opportunity to design the artwork for the can, which earned sixth place in the GABS Can Design Awards in 2022.

“These achievements further ignite my passion and drive to constantly push boundaries. Being able to express my creativity and make my mark on the industry is incredibly rewarding.”

In 10 years from now, Vish sees himself working in a leadership capacity within the craft beer industry, continually exploring new flavours, experimenting with brewing techniques and creating exceptional beers.

“My Le Cordon Bleu lecturers always inspired me to strive for excellence and that is what I will continue to do throughout my career,” he says.

“I am forever grateful for their guidance and their belief in my potential.”
