Alumni Video Series: Meet Hungi Lee

Meet Hungi Lee, a proud Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide alumnus whose journey into the world of patisserie is as inspiring as the delectable creations he produces daily. 

A graduate of Adelaide's Certificate III in Patisserie program, Hungi is currently thriving as a pastry chef in the bustling production kitchen at South Australia’s premiere entertainment destination, SkyCity Adelaide.

His role as part of the pastry team is to craft a range of desserts, breads, croissants and viennoiseries for SkyCity’s several outlets including ITL, Central Café, Sol and Madame Hanoi.


My parents told me, ‘If you're going to study culinary arts, go for the school with name value.

Originally beginning his culinary studies in commercial cookery at another institution, Hungi made the decisive switch to patisserie after gaining his permanent residency in Australia.

When it came time to choosing a new school, the choice was clear.

“Le Cordon Bleu is very famous in Korea,” he explains. “My parents told me, ‘If you're going to study culinary arts, go for the school with name value.’”

That advice paid off. At Le Cordon Bleu, Hungi found an educational experience that was both comprehensive and career-focused.

“The education system was excellent, with good mentors and teachers,” he says.

“It’s a very practical course, which is essential because in this industry, hands-on experience is everything.”

Hungi praises the professionalism and industry-standard training he received, noting that the foundational knowledge gained at Le Cordon Bleu prepared him well for the fast-paced demands of a real-world kitchen.

“Every time you ask a question, the instructors have the answer.”

Reflecting on his time at Le Cordon Bleu, Hungi offers heartfelt advice to aspiring chefs: “Don’t be shy to ask questions – that’s where most of your knowledge will come from. If you want to become a chef or cook, it’s the best investment you can make.”

From student to experienced pastry chef, Hungi is a testament to what passion, education and dedication can achieve.
