Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand Discuss Food Safety

Last week Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand were honoured to show officials Mark and William from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) around our campus. The CFDA administers domestic food safety regulations across China and the rules they administer can also be applied to imported foods.

Officials from the China Food and Drug Administration, Mark and William, and Ellie Avery from The Ministry for Primary Industries.

The intention of their visit was to see how we teach food safety management here at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand. This initiative is part of the Ministry for Primary Industries food safety scholarship programme; allowing CFDA officials to see New Zealand’s food safety practices first hand. This programme aims to increase joint cooperation and mutual understanding of food safety regulations in order to build long term relationships and trust in New Zealand’s food safety system.

Mark and William were given explanations on the procedures to ensure food safety and how this is taught here at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand. They were also given a chance to see some of these procedures put into practice whilst overseeing an Intermediate Cuisine class and an Intermediate Patisserie class. Mark and William were very impressed with the high standards of the operation and the professionalism of the chefs and students here at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand.
