With a sprinkle of good intentions and a dusting of sweetness, the talented patisserie students of Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide specially made a generous batch of couverture chocolates which were donated to Hutt St Centre for Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Who is Hutt St Centre?

Hutt St Centre aims to end homelessness for every person who walks through their doors, providing meals, social work, and a range of support services to those in need. Offering care without judgement to all, Hutt St Centre are helping to educate the public on any misconceptions about those facing homelessness and shed light on the reality that this is a situation which no one chooses yet anyone may experience.

Why Random Acts of Kindness Day?

Le Cordon Bleu Australia is passionate about contributing to holistic organisations and Random Acts of Kindness Day is the perfect time for us all to do something kind for each other. With the intention to bring a touch of indulgence and comfort to Hutt St Centre’s lunch service, the Patisserie students from our Adelaide campus did what they do best and created a generous batch of beautiful gourmet chocolates to donate.

Random Acts of Kindness Day - Hutt St CentreAlongside Le Cordon Bleu staff, our student Urmilaa Ashwini (Ash) Nandagopal was a big part of Random Acts of Kindness Day and handed the gift-wrapped chocolates to Chef Mayfield of Hutt St Centre. “The whole class worked on these chocolates for about a week. For the little coloured bon bons (the ones with pretty colours), it took us about 3 days. The chocolates and fillings were all made from scratch by the students and are couverture chocolate” said Ash. “The decorations were made with coloured cocoa butter that we put in the moulds by hand, by brush and by spraying it in.”

Ash was excited and grateful to be a part of Random Acts of Kindness Day and to give back to an organisation which gives so much to others. “It felt amazing! It was so nice to go there and donate food. And knowing that it wasn’t just basic food, it was something actually high quality that not many people have access to. Even me personally, I wouldn’t be able to afford chocolates like that.”
