Alumnus Joshua Ross Wins Chef Competition

Five of Wellington‘s top young chefs competed for the title of Jeune Chef des Rôtisseurs New Zealand and for the chance to take part in the international young chefs' competition. After 4 hours of preparing and serving three courses from a mystery box of ingredients revealed to them only at the start of the day.

The competition was held at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand and run in conjunction with international culinary group Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. The five young chefs that took part were from Bellamy's by Logan Brown, Hippopotamus, Artisan at Bolton Hotel, The Wellington Club and Wharekauhau Country Estate. Margins for the competitors were very tight with only seven points separating the winner and the fifth place.

Le Cordon Bleu is proud to announce that Alumnus Joshua Ross won the competition. Joshua is thrilled and delighted by his success and is looking forward to taking part in the international competition which is scheduled for 2022 – covid permitting.

Wellington-born Joshua Ross is Executive Chef at Bellamy's by Logan Brown which promises not only a unique setting on the third floor of Parliament but also premium New Zealand cuisine brought to you by head chef Joshua Ross, formerly Logan Brown sous chef.

Joshua trained at Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand at the same time as getting work experience at Logan Brown restaurant in 2014. His passion, work ethic and skills allowed him to move through all sections of his training very quickly, and in 2017, he was promoted to sous chef. In January 2018, Joshua was instrumental in setting up the kitchen and menu for Bellamy's by Logan Brown.
