Let’s talk about easing the cost of higher education

Professor Alan Bowen-James (Executive Dean, Le Cordon Bleu Australia) addresses key questions from hospitality professionals, career changers and school leavers about higher education for the hospitality sector.

How is Le Cordon Bleu Australia easing the cost of higher education?

To help ease the financial burden of studying in these uncertain times, Le Cordon Bleu Australia is extending its 50%  Scholarships into 2021 for its range of Online Higher Education Certificates designed for hospitality professionals, career changers, and school leavers (conditions apply*).

Offshore international students interested in our higher education courses can apply for remote study with Le Cordon Bleu Australia, starting with an Online Higher Education Certificate. The Australian Government’s temporary change to Post-Study Working Visa regulations means that those students (who under normal circumstances must complete 2 years study in Australia) can commence their chosen degree offshore and online.

Who are the Online Higher Education Certificates designed for?

Le Cordon Bleu Australia’s Online Higher Education Certificates are designed, not only to help hospitality professionals get back on their feet, but for anyone interested in dipping a toe into the culinary or hospitality sector. Each course consists of four subjects taught online with no on-campus requirements.

We believe these online courses provide people of all ages with an opportunity to enhance their resume, acquire new skills, and learn from the comfort and safety of their home. Our generous Scholarship (50% fee reduction) makes it easier in these hard times for everyone to obtain a high-quality education.

Is hospitality still a good choice for school leavers or career changers?

Absolutely! People will always need what the industry has to offer and therefore hospitality will always be a viable and rewarding career path.

We want to keep the dream of working in hospitality alive, and truly feel a sense of duty as an established and respected culinary institution to help make this happen. Hospitality is part of the heart and soul of Australia, and we want to see it return to its full glory. To do that, we need to ensure that the industry is supported by professionals who can continue to offer incredible dining and hospitality experiences.

Why should I invest in a hospitality education?

Despite the challenging environment we’re seeing solid enrolments into Le Cordon Bleu Australia courses, especially our 13 new online Undergraduate and Postgraduate Certificates. These new certificates are fully accredited and delivered 100% online, offering a range of study for career opportunities that are as promising as ever, including gastronomy, tourism, hospitality leadership, and food management - careers we predict will boom once the world opens up again.

How is the hospitality sector currently looking in terms of employment?

The hospitality industry has taken a very big hit this year, there’s no denying that. However, despite these challenges, the hospitality industry has remained surprisingly resilient, with many businesses becoming truly innovative so that many of us can still enjoy life’s pleasures – good food, wine, and experiences.
