Alumna Jiachen Lu ranked in Top 30 Sommeliers UK

Le Cordon Bleu London is proud to announce that alumna and Head Sommelier at Cord restaurant, Jiachen Lu, has been recognised as number 29 in the prestigious 2025 Top 100 Sommeliers list from Sommelier Edit. This fantastic achievement sees her climb from her position at number 36 last year, a testament to her growing expertise and dedication.
Nominations for the list come from sommeliers, hospitality professionals, and diners from across the UK, with the final ranking based on experience, career achievements, education, and performance in competitions.
Jiachen's journey is one of passion. Originally a practising lawyer for six years in Chicago, she decided to attend Le Cordon Bleu London to study wine, initially just for fun. She soon realised she had found her true calling, which eventually prompted a significant career change.
She graduated from the Diploma of Wine Gastronomy and Management at Le Cordon Bleu London in 2018. After a sommelier internship at the Little Nell in Aspen, Jiachen returned in 2019 to attend the Diplôme de Cuisine, which led to an internship opportunity at Le Gavroche in London. Before joining Cord, Jiachen was a sommelier at Dinings SW3, where she and a fellow alumna won the 2023 Gosset Matchmakers competition and an award at the Copa Jerez International Sherry Pairing Competition in Spain.
In 2024, Jiachen joined Cord restaurant as Head Sommelier, where she curates an exceptional list of wines and beverages and shares her expertise with our guests to enhance their dining experience.
