Each year, Le Cordon Bleu Melbourne brings a touch of creativity and indulgence to the Easter season through its ongoing partnership with Hyatt Place Melbourne Caribbean Park.
The collaboration gives patisserie students in Melbourne the opportunity to showcase their Easter-themed chocolate showpieces in the hotel foyer, transforming the space into a gallery of edible artistry for guests to admire and vote on.
This year’s winning creation came from student Mrudula Vivek Chandorkar, whose whimsical showpiece captured the attention of hotel guests.
Inspired by the Mad Hatter’s tea party scene from Alice in Wonderland, Mrudula set out to create a piece that was both playful and refined.
“I wanted to create a whimsical yet elegant showpiece that had colour, texture and finesse,” she says. “The large butterflies and the cute bunny along with the flowers added to the story-tale touch.”
For Mrudula, the competition was an opportunity to bring an idea to life from concept to completion.
“The Easter showpiece competition was a very fun and exciting way to showcase our creativity and skills,” she says. “I truly enjoyed creating something from scratch, right from the sketching, planning and execution.”

The annual showcase, now in its third year, continues to provide students with valuable real-world exposure while enhancing the guest experience.
For Mrudula, receiving the winning title was both rewarding and motivating. “When the results were announced I was overjoyed and humbled that the guests at Hyatt Caribbean Park appreciated my showpiece,” she says. “It gave me a great sense of happiness and satisfaction that the work I did was able to stand out and has given me a push to keep working hard to better my craft.”
She also acknowledged the support behind her success. “I would like to thank Le Cordon Bleu Melbourne for providing us with the opportunity to showcase our skills in the real world,” she says. “And most importantly, I would like to thank Chef Karin for her constant guidance and support. Her faith in my skills really helped me overcome my doubts and work hard every day.”
Congratulations to Mrudula and all participating students!
