In this month's alumni feature, we shine a spotlight on four Master of International Hospitality Management graduates who are pounding the pavement in five-star hotels and venues across Adelaide and Melbourne.

Manbhavya Gupta

Front Office Manager, Hotel Indigo Adelaide

When Manbhavya was studying his bachelor’s in India, he was always told by his professors that Le Cordon Bleu was one of the best schools in the world. Since then, he had always dreamt of “studying with the best”. But his passion for the industry started from a young age, after watching his father take care of his hotel and restaurant business, day-in, day-out. “He used to take me on holidays to one of the best five-star hotels across the country for family holidays, and this made me fall in love with the glamour of the industry,” he says. “It was this that made me choose hotels and hospitality as my career pathway.” He is now working as the Front Office Manager for Hotel Indigo in Adelaide, where he is in charge of managing the team, rostering, payroll, budgeting and managing the restaurant and bar when required. “My overall learning at Le Cordon Bleu has helped me reach where I am now,” he says. “All subjects studied have contributed to my overall growth and success, and is continuously helping me every day.”

Vai Sadavarte

Catering Manager, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre

One thing that stood out to Vai when deciding where to study was Le Cordon Bleu’s reputation within the industry and career prospects it provided. So, without hesitation, he enroled in the MIHM program and hasn't looked back since. “After doing my bachelor’s and industry placement in hospitality, I realised this was the industry I wanted a career in,” he says. “Le Cordon Bleu provided experienced and approachable tutors and access to plenty of study materials and online resources.” Vai graduated in 2008 and is now working as a Catering Manager for the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. His job involves looking after the Food & Beverage component for all events, from planning to execution. “I love working in big teams and working at MCEC provides me with this opportunity, while still giving me exposure to variety of events with different logistics, requirements and dynamics which makes my role very exciting.” He says Le Cordon Bleu prepared him for the industry by giving him an insight into 'tried and tested' industry practices to find the best possible outcomes. “I use data analysis on a regular basis in my current role to make smart business decisions,” he says. “This was one of the skills I learnt as a part of my course and it is one of the best tools anyone could have professionally to make calculated decisions on day-to-day basis.”

Aman Chandia

Sales Manager, Courtyard Marriott Melbourne

Aman always knew he wanted to pursue a career in hospitality management. Fast-forward to 2017 and the 31-year-old successfully graduated from the MIHM program. He loved the fact that the program's curriculum was interactive and intellectual, with industry-related case studies to help him fully understand the industry. Aman is now working at Courtyard Marriott Melbourne where he is responsible for proactive and reactive sales of accommodation rooms, conferences and events. “Every day is different and you are constantly learning new things on the job,” he says. “For those looking to polish their skills, I would strongly advise studying the MIHM as it can create many industry pathways.”

Yogna Virupil
Hotel Service Assistant Manager, Hotel Indigo Adelaide

For Yogna, studying at Le Cordon Bleu provided her with the best start to launching her career in Australia. “It has not only provided me with essential skills, but also a wide network of alumni and industry professionals who I can always reach out to,” she says. After completing an undergraduate program in Hospitality Management, Le Cordon Bleu’s MIHM felt like the natural course to progress her career. Since graduating in 2018, she has taken the hospitality world by storm and is now working for Hotel Indigo – part of IHG hotels. Her job involves looking after the hotel’s rooms and front office operations. “No two days are similar at work and I love the sheer magic and joy in making people happy.” She says the MIHM program is the perfect program to kick start a career in International Hospitality. “Le Cordon Bleu is a gold mine to dig for skills and the best network in the hospitality industry.”
