It's been a colourful career for Deepak Devadas who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide with a Bachelor of Business in International Restaurant Management in 2011.

From working on Hayman Island in Far-North Queensland, to managing hotel operations across Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand, Deepak’s passion for the industry continues to thrive in his current position at Emirates One&Only in Wolgan Valley, NSW. 

“It’s been a real journey to get here and I believe Le Cordon Bleu Australia played a part in helping me to achieve my dreams,” the 34-year-old says. 

“The institution and teachers went above and beyond to provide me with the tools and confidence to help build a successful career.” 

His role as purchasing manager for the remote, luxury resort includes handling the supply chain, as well as contract negotiations with suppliers across various departments, from housekeeping and guest services to engineering and utilities. 

“My biggest achievement to-date has been negotiating and saving the company close to $3.5 million with suppliers across all categories.” 

Deepak says he chose Le Cordon Bleu Australia as an education provider because of the prestigious reputation it holds, as well as the ability to gain first-hand industry experience during a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement. 

“My first and second WIL placement was at Hamilton Island in the food and beverage department,” he says. 

“It was incredibly beneficial as I was able to understand true Australian hospitality. 

“I was also able to meet guests from various cultural backgrounds and understand their needs to customise their holiday experiences.” 

He says for those looking to enter the Business world via a Le Cordon Bleu Australia program, it’s important to have a smart, humble and analytical mindset. 

“Learn and talk to people from different cultural backgrounds,” he says. “Don’t limit yourself in learning new skills…knowledge is power.”
