For Mitchell Turner, hospitality was never just about hotels – it was about people, experiences and the opportunity to build a career without borders. His journey into leadership began with a passion for travel, connection and a decision to pursue a Bachelor of Business with Le Cordon Bleu Australia.
“The opportunity to work anywhere in the world and travel sparked my interest in the hotel industry,” he says.
“You also work in an environment where people are generally there to enjoy themselves and you can be part of that journey and experience.”
That sense of possibility led him to Le Cordon Bleu Australia, where he was drawn to a degree that combined academic learning with practical industry experience.
“The Bachelor of Business degree was fast tracked in 2.5 years with industry experience included,” Mitchell explains. “It allowed me to be job ready for the industry when graduating.”
The group of students from around the world supported your future with a network of people who went on into the industry to grow their own careers.
For Mitchell, studying at Le Cordon Bleu represented more than earning a qualification – it was an opportunity to develop specialised knowledge while building credibility in a highly competitive global industry.
One of Mitchell’s most valuable takeaways from his time studying was the international community he became part of.
“The group of students from around the world supported your future with a network of people who went on into the industry to grow their own careers. I am still in touch with many of my alumni as we all grow in the industry.”
That global perspective and broad business understanding would later become instrumental in helping Mitchell step into leadership opportunities.
Reflecting on his career progression, Mitchell credits his ability to understand multiple business functions as a key differentiator.
Today, Mitchell serves as General Manager at The Langham Sydney, where his role centres on bringing the brand’s luxury promise to life for every guest and colleague.
“I lead the hotel team to deliver the brand promise of a bespoke ultra-luxury experience for our guests. I uphold the brand and make it unique for our colleagues and guests alike.”
Located on the edge of Sydney’s city centre, The Langham Sydney combines boutique luxury with a resort-style atmosphere, offering guests an iconic wellness experience alongside world-class dining.
Mitchell believes his Le Cordon Bleu education gave him both the confidence and foundation to contribute from day one.

“It gave me the brand of Le Cordon Bleu’s excellence in quality as a candidate, as well as the baseline knowledge to contribute and be an experienced team member from graduation.”
For students aspiring to build their own hospitality career, Mitchell’s advice is grounded in empathy, curiosity and continuous growth.
“Always put yourself in the shoes of your team and your guests, bring empathy and understanding and never be afraid to ask for clarity and development.”
From classroom to leadership, Mitchell’s story is a reminder that hospitality is more than a career. It’s an opportunity to create experiences, connect with people and build a future that can take you anywhere in the world.
