Sweet Confessions

Opening just under two years ago, “Sweet Confessions” is owned and run by Sophie Fiorenza, a graduate from Le Cordon Bleu’s Restaurant Business program.

Graduating in 2001, Sophie was among the first student enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu in Adelaide.

A qualified chef before beginning with Le Cordon Bleu, Sophie felt the need to continue her formal education and funded her own way through her studies. “I made a clear decision to invest in my education” explained Sophie.

It was an important step for her and she credits this investment to many of the opportunities that have been presented to her since.

Sophie maintains contact with many of her former classmates, saying that they were a close group with a strong sense that they “pioneered the way” for future students. “Most of us are still in industry in various roles” she said.

When asked about her fondest memories of Le Cordon Bleu; “It was the Lecturers, defiantly the Lecturers.  They were approachable and made the subjects interesting and dynamic”.  With accounting being her least favorite subject, Sophie now outsources this part of running her business to a bookkeeper and accountant!
In the year 2000, students were given the opportunity to participate as volunteers in the Sydney Olympic Games. “This was a great time” said Sophie, “and an invaluable experience – we also had the  opportunity to see our Lecturers in practice, rather than just in the classroom”!

Since opening, Sweet Confessions has been nominated for a number of prestigious business awards including:

  • The Messenger Small Business Awards 2011 and 2012
  • The Australian Bridal Industry Awards (ABIA) for  2012 and 2012

Sophie herself was also nominated for the 2012 Telstra Business Awards.
