A voyage of discovery to the Sancerre vineyard
Embark on a gastronomic journey in the heart of the Berry region and discover the Sancerre vineyards, on Saturday May 24th. This traditional, rustic and convivial one day visit, organized by Le Cordon Bleu, will allow you to immerse yourself in the history, terroirs and wine-making secrets of Sancerre. Regional cuisine will also take pride of place on this gourmet tour.

The visit to the Berry region, which is open to everybody, will begin at the Baron de Ladoucette’s estate; Château de Nozet.  Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, great-grandson of Count Lafond (a family which has owned the most renowned of the Pouilly Fumé vineyards since the 18th century), produces Ladoucette, a prestigious white wine which is recognized as one of the top sauvignons.

The tour will continue with lunch at the Relais de Pouilly, where you will have the opportunity to sample regional and traditional cuisine.
In the afternoon, we will visit the cellars at Paul Prieur’s traditional estate which has been in his family for eleven generations.  This will be followed by a tasting of Chavignol, an exceptional Sancerre wine.

The day will culminate in a visit to a cheese maker in Chavignol where we will learn all about “crottin de Chavignol” goat’s cheese, a specialty of the Berry region.  We will be given the opportunity to taste this cheese in the three stages of its maturation:  Fresh, ripe and aged.

Before winding our way back to Paris, and if time allows, we will also stop off in a typical Sancerre village.
