Holmesglen Institute

Le Cordon Bleu Melbourne Culinary Arts Institute

Today, Le Cordon Bleu is proud to announce the launch of a new Culinary Arts Institute in Melbourne. The purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities located at the Holmesglen Moorabbin campus will provide the highest level of culinary and hospitality education. This new campus expands Australia’s leading culinary arts institute to three states, joining campuses in Sydney and Adelaide in offering the much coveted Le Cordon Bleu training.

Applications are now being accepted for a range of cuisine and pâtisserie courses, including the prestigious Grand Diplôme, presenting Australian and international students with a unique opportunity to learn renowned and revered French techniques in Australia’s forward-thinking culinary capital.

Le Cordon Bleu’s Grand Diplôme qualification is recognised as a badge of excellence throughout the culinary world. Only after successfully completing the basic, intermediate and superior certificates for both Cuisine and Pâtisserie, and a practical industry placement, can students achieve the coveted Grand Diplôme.

All graduates will leave with a world-renowned qualification that opens doors to an exciting, international career in gastronomy and hospitality.

Proud to be celebrating the launch, President of Le Cordon Bleu Mr André Cointreau commented: “We have a long tradition in providing excellence in teaching the classics of cuisine, but now with a presence in more than 20 countries around the world, our culinary teaching reflects the internationalisation of culinary development around the world today. In this context we are very happy to be opening a new Le Cordon Bleu School in Melbourne, which is regarded as a leader in culinary and gastronomy excellence in Australia”

Le Cordon Bleu retains only the most highly-experienced and qualified staff whose many years of leadership in the hospitality industry reflect a deep understanding of the challenges faced with a career in this exciting industry.

Derrick Casey COO of Le Cordon Bleu Australia commented: “The new Le Cordon Bleu School in Melbourne will provide a continuing stream of highly motivated and qualified professional staff for this ever growing and developing industry in Australia”

Partnering with Holmesglen in Melbourne is another very exciting announcement with Suzanne McKinnon, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Service Skills and Environment declaring "Holmesglen is very excited to welcome Le Cordon Bleu to our Moorabbin campus. This is a unique opportunity for Holmesglen to facilitate the delivery of world class qualifications by Le Cordon Bleu to Victoria."

According to research by the Australian Tourism Commission, 53 per cent of tourists view food and wine experiences as the number one highlight of their trip to Australia. This, coupled with the fact that Australia is considered only second to France in food and wine experiences by overseas travellers, is another reason why Le Cordon Bleu continues to invest in education facilities around the country.

Four courses will be on offer at Le Cordon Bleu’s new Culinary Arts Institute in Melbourne

  • Diplôme de Cuisine - basic, intermediate and superior units in French culinary techniques to provide students with fundamental skills. Accompanied by a six month industry placement
  • Diplôme de Pâtisserie - basic, intermediate and superior units in French patisserie techniques to provide students with fundamental skills. Accompanied by a six month industry placement
  • Le Grand Diplôme - students must complete their Diplôme de patisserie, Diplôme de cuisine and a six month industry placement to achieve this prestigious qualification
  • Diplôme Avancé de Gestion Culinaire (Cuisine or Pâtisserie) - an Advanced Diploma level qualification combining culinary and hospitality management units

Le Cordon Bleu is also pleased to announce a special introductory scholarship (valued at AUD$10,000) for students who apply for the July intake into the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality. To be eligible students must commence in the first cohort for the new Melbourne campus commencing on 9th July 2015.  Places are strictly limited so contact us today for more information.
