An Oversea Study Tour Hosted By Le Cordon Bleu Australia

Korean studentsIn late January this year Le Cordon Bleu Australia was delighted to host a group of 25 students from Korea who travelled with Young Hong, General Manager, Le Cordon Bleu Korea - Sookmyung Academy, and their professor Bruce Lambert, to Adelaide for week long study tour.  The students were from Sookmyung Hospitality Business School in Seoul and were attending a food and wine residential as part of their Hospitality MBA studies.

They participated in a program which was designed to enhance the students’ understanding of western and Australian food and wine aesthetics.  A key theme of the program was the contrasting lifestyles of people in Australia and Korea and how this is translated into food, wine and dining culture. Some of the sessions were:

  • A tour of Adelaide;
  • Wine education and tasting session at the National Wine Centre;
  • Tour and winery visits in the Barossa Valley on Australia Day;
  • Food and wine matching session;
  • Dinner at Jimmies in the Adelaide Hills;
  • Tour and shopping at the Central Market;
  • Cooking and tasting session with SA produce where the students cooked yellowtail kingfish, Kangaroo Island marron and lamb;
  • A presentation by the students to Le Cordon Bleu staff about Korean food, drink and culture;
  • Traditional Australian barbecue.

We in Adelaide would very much like to thank Bruce, Young and all of the students for their amazing contribution to the week.  It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and willingness with which the students approached so many new places, experiences and tastes. We hope that the tour was a great success and we are already looking forward to next year!
