120 years celebration in Asia Pacific

Le Cordon Bleu Australia and Asia Pacific countries have been celebrating the 120th anniversary of Le Cordon Bleu in style, with several local and regional events highlighting the diversity of our regions, alumni and students.

Indonesia was one of the first with an evening soiree held at Skye Lounge - Menara one of the tallest buildings in Jakarta with a stunning skyline view. On the 25th June esteemed guests including embassy representatives from Australia and Paris, Le Cordon Bleu Alumni and agents gathered together under one roof to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and success of Le Cordon Bleu, alumni and partners.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous array of canapés and drinks and were greeted by our Indonesian hub team Mariani and Harris Gunawan with a special welcome speech by Le Cordon Bleu Australia COO, Derrick Casey.

Alumni who attended included Rinrin Marinka, who has been a guest judge on Master Chef Indonesia. She was just one of the globally recognised alumni who were acknowledged for their skills learnt from the unique Le Cordon Bleu teaching methodology. Many Agents and alumni travelled far to be at the event and our Indonesian team were thrilled to welcome many of their successful partnerships to the night. Guests and businesses who attended included Mr. Crabby and Friends, Jjigae House, Toridoll Yakitori, Mokka, Ling Ling Restaurant, Kimmy Patisserie, Nomz Kitchen and Bar, Le Sucre du Patisserie, Le Sucree, Tres Bien, Angelita Tea Salon and Patisserie, Montblanc.

Thailand celebrated 120 years of culinary and hospitality management excellence with the launch of a new venture and range of products to be sold at Central Food Retail, the most successful food retailer in Thailand. Timed to coincide with the 120th birthday celebration of Le Cordon Bleu in 2015, the launch was held on the 14th July by officially unveiled the new products with a press conference that was held at Chidlom Store, Thailand. Together the release of these products brings together the expertise and experience of Le Cordon Bleu’s gastronomic traditions with new future lines to include biscuits, condiments and tea’s imported from Paris and a selection of linen’s and gifts.

This unique launch across Thailand also included the ultra-premium cooking range “Collection des Chef’s” created in collaboration with Central Food Retail, of a range of culinary products including Fettucine Squid, Spaghetti Squid, Whole Wheat Rigatoni, Fettucine Egg, Rice Berry and Honey.

India was next with a series of chef demonstrations and events themed around the 120 Year Celebrations. The team were pleased to host Chef Nicolas Houchet from the London Campus for culinary demonstrations at some of the leading institutes & universities across India.

India Hub also collaborated with some of our leading Alumni across the country for joint culinary demonstrations with Chef Nicolas Houchet as an opportunity for the institute to showcase and celebrate the success of its Alumni.
These demonstrations and joint demonstrations were held across cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore & Mumbai from 5th - 13th October with Students at G.D.Goenka University, IIHM, IHM Bangalore & HAFT Polytechnic getting an opportunity to witness Chef Nicolas Houchet lead patisserie demonstrations showcasing the techniques of choux crumble, caramel and cardamom macarons, St Honore and hazelnut Daquois gateau.

Demonstrations were also held across Accor Properties including Novotel Kolkata, Novotel Bangalore & Sofitel Mumbai for culinary enthusiasts, prospective students, industry partners and friends of the Media.

The prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Bangalore Chapter supported the Novotel Banglore Demonstration. Along with eminent Chaine members, this demonstration was also attended and appreciated by Ms Ruma Singh.

As a grand finale to the Culinary Demo Tour, the 120 Year Celebration Gala Dinner was held at Artisan, Sofitel, Mumbai. This gathering was well attended by celebrated alumni including Ms Pooja Dhingra, Ms Anahita Dhondy, Chef Michael Swamy and eminent members of the industry including India’s first female bartender, Ms. Shatbhi Basu.

Australia with three campuses in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney held several themed events throughout the year at student graduations and events in each of the capital cities, and in October media and selected food and gastronomy bloggers were treated to a selection of birthday cakes prepared by the Chef’s and students of Le Cordon Bleu Australia with a huge response on social media.

Australia will also complete the year’s celebrations with a 120 launch event for Melbourne to be held in December with VIP guests, media and alumni to attend and celebrate the launch of Australia’s latest culinary campus.
