"In January 2008, I decided that, after working in various fields for the past 15 years, it was time for me to take the plunge, and take some time out for myself to pursue my career within my chosen passion – cooking!

I looked around at various courses and felt that the course on offer at Le cordon Bleu was where I wanted to further my knowledge and develop my cooking skills. I enrolled on the Basic Cuisine course.

I can distinctively remember when I visited the school in Marylebone with my parents before enrolling, I was asked “What would you like to do once you have finished the course?” My reply was “to teach people my passion for cooking in their homes”. It felt really strange saying that as I hadn’t even started the course yet, however that was my dream...

The course gave me the grounding in classic French cuisine I was looking for. This, combined with my heritage, has given me the ability and confidence to create some amazing fusion dishes. On the 28th May 2009, I launched “Cook with Lisa”, teaching individuals to cook in their own homes, passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm about food to others who are less confident about cooking than I am.

Since launching Cook with Lisa – I’ve been teaching children as young as four to cook together in one-to-one lessons or at kid’s parties.

During the summer 2009, I also ran a summer cookery workshop at the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute in London. Apart from children I also focus on singles, newlyweds and groups.

It was quite daunting, to take the plunge and set up my own business, as a lot of people were quite wary saying I should test the water first, but I just thought, “you know what, no... this is my baby, and I’m going to do it my way”.

I have received fabulous PR – which has given me the inner confidence that no matter what, your dreams can come true.

I am extremely grateful to Le Cordon Bleu for the knowledge that I gained throughout my course, and I can now live the dream of unleashing the inner confidence of others wishing to learn about cooking.
