A gift for leading people

Yuvraj Pawar’s gift for leading people has seen him quickly rise through the ranks. With a Master in International Hospitality Management under his belt, his goal of being General Manager is closer than ever.

In his late teens in India, friends and family observed that Yuvraj had a natural flair for communicating with people and leading them toward solutions. It seemed natural to pursue a career in hospitality management to take advantage of those strengths.

His journey began in India with a Bachelor of Hotel Management in 2012. A desire to take his career to the next level brought him to Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide for a Master in International Hospitality Management.

“Le Cordon Bleu had the reputation and history I was looking for in a university, so it was an obvious choice.”

With the self-directed learning style in Australia quite different to India, Yuvraj found his teachers eager to provide assistance. “I had excellent mentors at Le Cordon Bleu who helped me make the transition.”

A Work Integrated Learning placement at Pullman Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns gave Yuvraj an opportunity to grow, from Front Office Supervisor to Night Manager.

Since graduating from Le Cordon Bleu Adelaide in 2014, his career has continued to rise. In his current role as Rooms Division Manager at Rydges Palmerston, he has increased occupancy from 60% to 99%.

His advice to future graduates is believe in yourself.
“Don’t hesitate to start from scratch, it’s the best way to learn everything you need to know for the future. Don’t let any opportunities pass by and never underestimate yourself.”
With a thirst for experience, his five-year plan includes working through all organisational levels. “I want to experience all kinds of markets in the hospitality industry, from busy CBD corporate organisations to relaxed resorts.”

His eyes firmly set on being a General Manager, Yuvraj wants to enjoy the journey and ensure he is fully prepared.
