Classes start orientation in Adelaide and Sydney

The academic year for 2014 has begun in Adelaide and Sydney, and despite the heat, the students are excited and ready to get started.

So a big welcome to everyone, and we hope this year will be a great success for you, and we’ll look forward to celebrating our 120th anniversary with you all next year!

 
Scholarship winners announced for the Master of Gastronomic Tourism
International and Australian candidates to experience this unique course

Le Cordon Bleu, in collaboration with Southern Cross University, have announced the 2014 Education & Industry Professional Scholarships for the Le Cordon Bleu Master of Gastronomic Tourism.

Tuition scholarships of $5000 were awarded to Meera Raj, food and beverage manager of the JW Marriott Hotel in Surabaya, Indonesia, and Tina Sketchley, a home economics and nutrition teacher from Darwin High School.

Partial scholarships (valued at $2500) were awarded to Barbara Sweeney, food writer and curator of the annual food writers' festival, Food & Words, and senior journalist and national food writer for NewsCorp, Grant Jones, in recognition of their scholarship submissions and contribution to industry.

Alumnus restaurant receives high praise in India
Le Plaisir certainly knows how to please

Sydney alumnus SIddharth Mahadik’s Patisserie and Bistro, Le Plaisir, has won the Times of India 2014 award for the “Best European Restaurant”.

Mr. Mahadik opened Le Plaisir in November 2012 in Pune, India after graduating in 2011 from Le Cordon Bleu Sydney with an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality. Needless to say he is thrilled with this honour, a great reward for his hard work in making his establishment a success.

Sydney alumnus launching local sandwich business
International flavours on the menu for Israeli Chef

Yaron Foghel, a 2010 graduate from Le Cordon Bleu Sydney with a Diplôme de Cuisine decided to use his experience to open his own business - Yaron’s Place, in Sydney late last year.

Originally from Israel, Yaron has been living in Sydney for the past 4 years. Having worked in several restaurants over the past 10 years, in Israel and in Australia, as well as travel across Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Australia, Yaron plans to give his business an international feel.

Chef Nicolas Belorgey winner of European Pastry Cup
Congratulations!

On Sunday 26th January, Pastry Team UK won the prestigious European Cup – selection event for the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie.

Composed of Chef Nicolas Belorgey from Le Cordon Bleu London and Chef Barry Johnson, Team Pastry UK beat five other teams from the region to eventually win the first place. During the five-hour competition at SIRHA in Geneva, the teams were tasked with creating two fruit desserts and sugar and chocolate sculptures.

Spice roasted pineapple with creamy rice and pomegranate syrup
Ananas rôti, riz crémeux et sirop de grenade

A tender and gently spiced pineapple ring set upon on a mold of creamy rice with sticky pomegranate syrup transform the classical French “Ananas à la condé ” into an exotic plated dessert.
