Perth launches in style with introductory scholarships

Our newest institute the Le Cordon bleu Perth launched with grand style on 27th April with an official ribbon cutting and plaque unveil. Premier of Western Australia and Minister for Tourism the Hon. Colin Barnett officiated the ceremony in the morning with speeches delivered by Derrick Casey COO of Le Cordon Bleu Australia and Michelle Hoad interim GM North Metropolitan TAFE. Distinguished guests were treated to a morning tea catered for by North Metropolitan TAFE students on location at our newest classrooms purpose built for the two new Perth programs Bachelor of Business in Convention and Event Management and Tourism Management. The partnership between Le Cordon Bleu Australia and North Metropolitan TAFE (NMT) has been in planning for some time, and with exciting developments in Perth and an estimated increase in tourism anticipated for Western Australia these programs are timely in their release as the hospitality, convention and event and tourism need for trained employees grows.

In celebration of our new Perth campus which opens in July 2016, Le Cordon Bleu is proud to offer generous tuition scholarships valued at AUD$20,000 for the Bachelor of Business (Convention & Event Management) and Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management) being delivered at the Perth campus.

La Chaîne Young Chefs competition Melbourne heat

Le Cordon Bleu Australia is a proud sponsor of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an ancient guild with its origins in medieval France, the purpose of which, then as now, is the support and promotion of gastronomy and the culinary arts. Now an international organisation, La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs sponsors an annual, international competition for aspiring young chefs. On Wednesday 27th April the Victorian state heat was held at Crown Culinarium in Melbourne.

The winner of the Victorian state competition was Ms. Beatrice Segura who will go on to represent Victoria at the national finals, this year also in Melbourne, in June.

Sydney students cater high profile lunch

Westpac celebrates its 199th year.

On April 6th, Westpac bank celebrated its 199th year with a lavish lunch featuring political leaders and present and former chairs. Held at the beautiful Walsh Bay leading lights and a roll call of prominent s were treated to a lavish luncheon menu prepared by Le Cordon Bleu Sydney students working alongside Hive catering.

With Le Cordon Bleu students able to gain valuable experience at this event, many other Cuisine and Pâtisserie students ask, “What can I do if I have no experience?” Our Career Services team are integral in obtaining such opportunities for our students and are able and willing to assist students in gaining experience in the industry, whilst undertaking their course and studies with Le Cordon Bleu. This lunch was the perfect example of how students are able to gain invaluable experience and add something impressive to their resume.

Mitchell Turner

Mitchell Turner is an alumnus who graduated from the Hotel & Resort management degree in 2006 and hit the ground with gusto...

Passionate about the hospitality industry it wasn’t long before Mitchell was acting hotel manager with the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) overseeing hotel operations including guest experience and employee engagement programs. A move to Director of Rooms with IHG lead Mitchell to his current position at the Sofitel as Rooms Divisions Manager overseeing a team of 60 staff.

Mitchell put his success down to some key principles: humility, respect & loyalty.

"Be humble and learn the ropes" - you need to understand how each department in a major hotel runs before you can manage it!
