Chef Steven Khoe, who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Sydney in 2008, has won a prestigious award at the esteemed Interfood Indonesia exhibition in Jakarta.
Competing against the best in the industry, including Chefs from hotels, restaurants and venues across Indonesia, as well as the general public, Steven won a gold medal for his Indonesian Traditional Dessert.
A yearly event, Interfood has been going for 14 years including the main exhibition on food and beverage products, equipment, ingredients, raw material, etc. as well as expert seminars, cooking and baking demonstrations.
The big event though is always the cooking and baking competitions, because the event is on a national scale, supported by the Indonesian Ministries (Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Cooperative and Small Enterprise), as well as industry associations such us the Indonesia Bakery Association, Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association, Indonesia Herbal and Health Association, etc. which means the competition is always at a very high level.
For his winning entry, Steven created the following menu for his Indonesian Traditional Dessert:
- Indonesian Highland
- Rice flour porridge
- Deep fried banana in 3 ways
- Kue Bugis (steamed glutinous rice flour and tapioca filled with caramelized vanilla coconut served with coconut foam)
Thrilled with his win, Steven is already looking forward to taking his medal back to his business of four years, TresBien, also based in Jakarta.
