Franck Ramage, jury member for the Sciences Po International Tasting 2014
The wine tasting competition “Sciences Po International Tasting (SPIT)” took place on April 5, at the famous Champagne house, Bollinger, situated in Aÿ, Marne Region of France. Franck Ramage, head of the wine department at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, was a member of the jury for this 6th annual event.

The Sciences Po International Tasting (SPIT) brings together students from renowned schools or universities all around the world:  Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Polytechnique, HEC, ESSEC, Dauphine,  EDHEC, St. Andrews, St. Gallen, Copenhagen Business School, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, EM Lyon and Institut Français du Pétrole.

The 42 students, divided into 14 teams, had to compete in a blind tasting on red and white wines as well as Champagne.  The competition alternates between theory and practical tests, helping to evaluate oenological knowledge, technical expertise and tasting skills.
The University of Oxford team was awarded the first place for their elegant and relevant analysis.

M. Paolo Basso, Best Sommelier of the World, was head of the jury.  Angélique de Lencquesaing, co-founder of iDealwine ; Paige Donner, journalist and writer ; Gilles Descôtes, Cellar Master at Champagne Bollinger were also members of the jury.
