'Passion for Excellence Scholarship Award'

Le Cordon Bleu is celebrating its 120th Anniversary since the first French culinary arts class held in October 1895 – such an amazing achievement and a big congratulations goes out to all the campuses around the world!

The Ottawa campus commemorates this milestone with a two-day celebration in November 2015 inviting alumni from around the world and the awarding of the ‘Passion for Excellence Scholarship Award’. The scholarship is worth over $30,000 to an aspiring culinary talent.

The celebration begins on November 6th, 2015 with the three Scholarship finalists being flown into Ottawa from across Canada. The three finalists were chosen based on their entry videos and Skype interviews conducted by our marketing team.

The 3 finalists will be cooking the final exam of the famous Le Cordon Bleu Alumna, Julia Child, consisting of three dishes:

- “Mollet” eggs in Béarnaise sauce
- Veal Chops “en surprise”
- Madeira sauce and caramel custard

A panel of judges will be scoring the dishes based on five components: presentation, technique, taste, hygiene and organization. An overall score will be tabulated and the applicant with the highest total points will be crowned the winner. A cocktail party will follow judging for all current students and staff.

The final evening, November 7th, 2015, will be for alumni, press and special guests with images and speeches highlighting 120 years of tradition and innovation. Executive Chef Yannick Anton of Signatures Restaurant at Le Cordon Bleu in Ottawa will be preparing mouth-watering canapés and cocktails will be served. The evening will be topped off with the announcement of the Scholarship winner and awarding of the grand prize:

- A fully funded, nine-month placement in the coveted Diplôme de Cuisine program at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa Culinary Arts Institute
- A paid internship under the guidance of Executive Chef Yannick Anton, the esteemed chef of the renowned Le Cordon Bleu Signatures restaurant in Ottawa.

We’re looking forward to inviting the 3 finalists to the school and announcing the first ever Scholarship Winner at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa.
