Le Cordon Bleu Peru present at Mistura 2013 food fair
Mistura, the most important Peruvian food fair in Latin America, celebrated Peru’s extraordinary culinary tradition and biodiversity and gathered a variety of food industry players.
The event lasted ten days which were full of flavor and color with 140 food and drink outlets, as well as 1600 stands. There was a special area called "The World of the Quinoa", where Le Cordon Bleu Peru sold delicious quinoa based dishes: quinoa humitas, quinoa pie with Osso Bucco in black bear sauce, native potatoes with huancaina sauce, and quinoa with ocopa sauce.
On the inauguration day, which was attended by the president of the Republic, Ollanta Humala, a delegation of over 40 Le Cordon Bleu Peru students were part of the welcoming committees with Hospitality and Tourism students performing as hosts.
Students also assisted a variety of personalities of the culinary world who were invited to attend Mistura 2013. Among the renowned international Chefs were Alain Ducasse, Alex Atala, Albert Adria, Nuno Mendes, Rene Redzepi and Massimo Botura.
During the event, the school awarded internships to 12 regional Mistura Chefs, from different parts of Peru. The Chefs will be taught the latest culinary techniques and how to prepare dishes using quinoa and potatoes as main ingredients, allowing them to improve their culinary skills.
The participation of Le Cordon Bleu in Mistura 2013 underlines its commitment to supporting the First Lady, Nadine Heredia, as the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations) Special Ambassador for the International Year of Quinoa, whose purpose is to promote the production and consumption of quinoa at a national and international level.
Le Cordon Bleu Peru is supporting the First Lady by establishing an alliance with quinoa producers in various parts of the country, through which Le Cordon Bleu Peru Chefs will buy quinoa from the producers but also teach them how to prepare various nutritional dishes using this cereal.
