Winners of Greek scholarships announced

In January 2015, Le Cordon Bleu traveled to Greece for a tour of public and private culinary schools:

  • Thessaloniki (IEK and EPAS Macedonia)
  • Athens (IEK and EPAS Anavissos, Etoile Private school, and IEK Omiros Private School)
  • Crete (all public and private schools hosted by the Chef Club of Crete), see video here
  • Rhodes (IEK and EPAS Rhodes, and Chef Club of Dodecanese)

Chef Daniel Hardy, Cuisine Master Chef from Le Cordon Bleu London led a series of culinary demonstrations showcasing the knowledge we share with 20,000 students annually around the world. Following the demonstration, all attendees were invited attendees to participate in a quiz to win four scholarships.

We are now pleased to announce the entrants who have been successful as winners of the competition:

Basic Cuisine Certificate Scholarships at Le Cordon Bleu London

  • Miss Thomai - Elephtheria Darcamanou (IEK Makedonias in Thessaloniki)
  • Miss Ioanna Kapatou (IEK Omiros in Athens)
  • Miss Antonia Gialitaki (Kappa Studies in Crete)

Partial Scholarship for the Wine and Management Diploma at Le Cordon Bleu Paris

  • Anna Maria Lowe-Manolis (IEK Rhodes)

Following the announcement we asked the winners about winning the competition:

Ioanna Kapatou commented on winning the competition: “There are no words great enough to express my gratitude and my happiness upon winning this scholarship. Personally, I believe that receiving this scholarship is a milestone for my career and my life.  My dreams are finally coming true! Today is a day that I mark as the first day for my path to success! I feel grateful, wholesome, and humbled to receive this opportunity, to have a much desired and excellent education. I am at a loss for words since the chance to chase my dreams has arrived, and I cannot but burst into happiness and believe that in the end, the odds are always in our favor if we as individuals strive and work hard for our success. Once again, you reap what you sow, and thus it is my time to accept what I have earned, work even harder, and be forever grateful to Le Cordon Bleu for allowing me to be the best person I can possibly be.”

We also asked Antonia Gialitaki to tell us a little bit more about her expectations while studying in London: “London has always been a place to be. It’s a city full of opportunities, full of people who want to be the beginning of a statement. I am sure that right now someone, somewhere in London, is giving birth to a legend. I want to start my career in a place where I can see all these new things, that may come to Greece 2 or 3 years later.  I heard that studying in London is really cool. Studying cuisine in London and especially in Le Cordon Bleu must be AMAZING. I hope this will be the beginning of something really beautiful and I can’t wait to live it.”

Anna Maria Lowe-Manolis explained how she feels about attending the Wine and Management Program in Paris: “I am absolutely thrilled to be attending the Wine and Management program in Paris!  I can’t wait to explore the famous world of French Food and Wine, and to learn as much as I can from my classes and also from my fellow students.  Since Wine has been a part of my life since I was a little girl, the chance to experience the process of making it, the grape vine, and going all the way to the point of tasting the finished product and pairing it with the right food, is something I have always been interested in. The flavors that can be extracted from a grape are so amazingly diverse and complicated, so I’m glad to be beginning at the most basic level. France has such an amazing tradition of making some of the best wines in the world, I can think of no better place than Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, to study Wine and Management.”

Le Cordon Bleu would like to congratulate the four winners, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the successful participants to our schools to begin their studies. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the scholarship competition.
