Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management Students visited London Cru

Matthieu Longuere and Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management students

As part of the Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management, students of Le Cordon Bleu London visited London Cru, London’s first winery.

With state of the art equipment and only the best grapes sourced from European vineyards including the UK, London Cru was created to give the opportunity to Londoners to get directly involved in the winemaking process.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to understand the winemaking process and meet with the team working there. Students were also invited to taste seven different wines some from the barrels / tanks including two wines before blend and some in bottle from last year's harvest.

Matthieu Longuere Master Sommelier, commented on the visit: “Nearly half way through the diploma, it was important for the students to see and understand how a small quality orientated winery works. London Cru is a boutique winery and the way the business operates is similar to any high end wineries in the world.” He added: “Students were impressed by the quality of the wine and it was very satisfactory to see them asking questions and interacting with the staff as real wine professionals.”

This was an excellent visit to see how the business operates “behind the scenes” – an insightful visit as they may have to work with similar companies in the future.

Diploma in Wine, Gastronomy and Management has been designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to succeed as in the wine industries at an international level.

London Cru has been created by the team behind Roberson Wines – one of the uk’s most renowned wine merchants.
