Chef Nicolas Belorgey takes part in the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie - European Cup
Selected last October to represent the UK, this is the final weeks of preparation for Chef Belorgey before the prestigious European Cup – selection event for the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie.
The celebrated event will take place in Geneva on 26th January 2014 as part of the Sirha trade exhibition and will be chaired by Claire Heitzler, head pastry chef for Lasserre – Paris. Originally created by Gabriel Paillasson in 1989, the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie has become a reference for pastry art worldwide. The event federates professionals in the industry and reveals new talents and innovations. It is the only contest to be created by pastry professionals for pastry professionals.
Both Chef Nicolas Belorgey and team mate Chef Barry Johnson will be competing against six other countries. Each team will have to prepare four pastry creations in a maximum of five hours:
  • Two fruit desserts to serve eight persons. The dessert prepared for presentation purposes will be included in an artistic creation made of drawn sugar
  • Nine identical desserts, incorporating chocolate, served on a plate and representative of pastry in the country of origin
  • An artistic creation made of sugar
  • An artistic creation made of chocolate
The seven teams will more importantly endeavour to win one of the three tickets for the final of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, and thus to have the privilege of representing their country in this major event in the industry that will be held from 24th to 28th January 2015 in Lyon, France.
