Annissa Helou hosts demonstration for London students
Le Cordon Bleu London welcomed renowned chef and cookbook author Annissa Helou into our kitchens for a culinary demonstration exclusively for our students.

On Tuesday 4th March, students of Le Cordon Bleu London enjoyed a very special demonstration hosted by renowned Lebanese Food Writer, Anissa Helou.  Anissa is the daughter of a Syrian father and Lebanese mother, and it is this diversity of culture as well as her passion for food that has made her such a successful cookbook author and journalist. In spite of a busy week with exams, students turned out to watch Anissa demonstrate authentic Lebanese recipes including Baba Ghannuge; Muhammara and Fattoush Salad – each dish was wonderfully simple and yet remarkably tasty. The success of Anissa’s visit was evident when, a mere ten minutes after the demonstration, we were asked when she would return to Le Cordon Bleu! We promise it won’t be too long....

Anissa Helou has written several books about her passion for food of the Levant. She is an experienced, accomplished and photogenic broadcaster on radio and television and writes regularly for various publications, both in the UK and US. Anissa continues with her unique style and her ferocious energy to demonstrate to the West the range of culinary delights offered by the East. She is presently working with a group of Egyptian entrepreneurs on launching various street food concepts. Their first, Koshari Street, is opening in Covent Garden in London in early May. More information on Anissa Helou.

In 2013, she has been named one of the “100 Most Powerful Arab Women” by Arabian Business magazine” and she was also included in their “500 most influential Arabs.”

Guest chef demonstrations are held each term to allow our students to experience and learn a variety of culinary styles from the industry’s best chefs.
