Le Cordon Bleu History
The story of Le Cordon Bleu is rich with heritage and history beginning in the sixteenth century, when King Henry III created the Order of the Holy Sprit awarding members the cross of the Holy Spirit which hung from a blue ribbon or un cordon bleu.
Due to the prestigious nature of this Order and the decadent feasts accompanying their ceremonies, the name Le Cordon Bleu became well recognized and celebrated.
During the nineteenth century, the weekly magazine La Cuisinière Cordon Bleu was published by the journalist Marthe Distel. Over the next seventy years, it became the basis and reference for what is now perhaps one of the largest recipe collections in the world. We invite you to embark on the Le Cordon Bleu experience!
