What began as a way to encourage skilled trades in Spain has grown into a prestigious international event to promote and enhance vocational training worldwide. Regardless of language barriers, competitors meet every two years in a different location to compete and share their passion.

In May 2009, Superior Cuisine and Pastry students from Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa’s Culinary Arts program competed at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition. This was the first time that Le Cordon Bleu students have participated in this competition.

Proudly representing the culinary institute were Sylvie Dupuis and Brendan MacFarlane with Benyan Zhou as the alternate in the Post Secondary Culinary Arts category. Hannalee Pervan and Danielle Gaudet competed in the Post Secondary Baking category with Christine Palichuk as the alternate.

In cuisine Sylvie Dupuis placed 3rd. For Pastry, Danielle Gaudet finished in 2nd place and Hannalee Pervan placed 1st.

Hannalee advanced to the Canadian Skills Competition in Charlottetown, PEI where she was awarded 2009 Skills Canada Post Secondary Baking Champion.

Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa is proud to commit and pursue opportunities that encourage the progress, development and growth of their students.
