The major motion picture (Columbia Pictures) Julie & Julia was written for the screen and directed by Nora Ephron, starring Meryl Streep as Julia Child, Amy Adams as Julie Powell and Stanley Tucci as Paul Child. It‘s adapted from the book Julie & Julia by Julie Powell and My in Life in France by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme, her grandnephew. Julie & Julia intertwines the true stories of Julie Powell and American Culinary Icon, Julia Child, on their adventures toward self-discovery.

A culinary legend provides a frustrated office worker with a new recipe for life in Julie & Julia, the true stories of how Julia Child’s (Meryl Streep) life and cookbook inspired fledgling writer Julie Powell (Amy Adams) to whip up 524 recipes in 365 days.

Julia Child, who graduated Le Cordon Bleu Paris in 1951, was one of the first women to introduce the French culinary techniques taught at Le Cordon Bleu to the American public, through television series and many publications. Julia Child's first book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking published nearly 50 years ago is back to the best-seller list since the film premiered in United States in August 2009.

Julie & Julia has introduced Julia Child as an inspiration for new generations of chefs and culinary amateurs.

President of Le Cordon Bleu International, André Cointreau, says “Julia Child has recently come back into the spotlight with the release of this movie, starring Meryl Streep. One of the most prestigious alumni from Le Cordon Bleu Paris School has been honored and we are proud of her”.  He continues “I met Julia Child several times and when I saw the film for the first time I was astonished by her performance. She did it perfectly”

Monsieur André Cointreau awarded two honorary diplomas to Meryl Streep for her outstanding interpretation of Julia Child and to Nora Ephron for the film adaptation of the book .

Le Cordon Bleu continues to participate in the promotion of the film Julie & Julia. The Blu-ray and DVD were recently released in United States and Le Cordon Bleu is offering a complete culinary experience package at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa in a sweepstakes in partnership with Sony Home Entertainment.
