When you meet William Ng, it is clear from his enthusiasm that he is committed to succeeding in the hospitality industry. His personal expectations are high as he constantly strives for improvement and to be of influence.
William is preparing to commence a new role as Assistant Night Manager with Hilton Hotels in Surfers Paradise, Queensland. His new job sees him leaving Melbourne, his temporary home for two years, where he has enjoyed the cosmopolitan lifestyle and great coffee!
Graduating with a Le Cordon Bleu Masters in International Hospitality Management, William moved to Adelaide after completing his Bachelor Degree with Taylor’s College School of Hospitality and Tourism, Malaysia.
Wanting to continue his hospitality education he says; “I saw the potential to further develop myself, not only with industry knowledge but to equip myself to contribute from a management perspective.”
It was a family vacation to Japan that first opened his mind to the world of hospitality admitting that after that experience, there was no turning back.
Completing internships as part of his studies with Taylors College, William went on to work for Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur, as a trainee and then as a Guest Experience Executive and Senior Night Auditor. In addition to receiving many guest commendations, William was recognised as one of the top “up sellers” in the hotel.
As a student, he was actively involved in volunteer roles, most recently as a Student Representative. His commitment to influencing and impacting the student experience is now evident in his professional life, particularly his commitment to improving the customer experience and increasing guest satisfaction rates.
Since graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in 2010, William worked with Holiday Inn, Melbourne Airport commencing as Senior Guest Services Agent and Team Leader (Night Audit) before being promoted to Senior Night Auditor.
Understanding that hospitality is a 24/7 lifestyle, William’s most recent career choices involving night shifts and night audit responsibilities, have provided him with a greater opportunity to influence management decisions while expanding his own managerial experience.
With a goal to become the General Manager of a 5-star property “at least within the next ten years”, it is likely that he will make it. Le Cordon Bleu would like to congratulate William and wish him luck with Hilton Hotels and his quest for good coffee!
