Electrolux Appetite for Excellence

Congratulations to Ambrose Chiang  Alumnus and graduate of the Bachelor of Business ( International Restaurant Management) 2013 program and current student of the Sydney Wine Academy, who is a finalist in the Young Waiter category for this year’s 2014 Electrolux Appetite for Excellence competition.This program awards the Australian Young Chef, Young Restaurateur and Young Waiter of the Year and aims to inspire and nurture young hospitality talent who are at the forefront of their profession.

Ambrose is one of Le Cordon Bleu’s newest superstar graduates and is currently working as part of the wine team at the exclusive and very popular Momofuku Seiobo in Sydney, opened by celebrated Chef and Restaurateur David Chang as part of his global noodle domination.

Sitting on the judging panel this year is Peter Gilmore (Quay), Lisa van Haandel (Longrain Melbourne, The Beach Hotel, Byron Bay), Mark Best (Marque and Pei Modern), Peter Sullivan (Aria, Chiswick, North Bondi Fish) and Luke Mangan. New judges include Australian-born David Thompson, whose restaurant was recently ranked number one on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant list, Nick Hildebrandt (Bentley Restaurant+Bar, Monopole, Yellow), James Viles (Biota Dining and Australian Young Restaurateur 2013) and Danielle Gjestland (Wasabi, and Australian Young Restaurateur 2009).

Depending on the category in which they enter, the winners will get an overseas trip with flights and cash provided, as well as kitchen equipment/appliances and publicity in national media platforms, with winners announced in August.
