Le Cordon Bleu Expands Its Culinary And Hospitality Reach In Taiwan

On December 18 2012, Le Cordon Bleu - the world’s largest provider of culinary and hospitality education has expanded its commitment in Taiwan by signing a new joint venture agreement with Worldline International Education Company at Ming Tai high School, the Wufeng Lin Family Garden.

This innovative new partnership represents a significant first for the Le Cordon Bleu Foundation, establishing a new program specifically for senior high school students that will provide them with Le Cordon Bleu English for Tourism and Hospitality, fundamental hospitality training, CordonPlus cuisine and patisserie programmes and Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Workshop.

The signing of this important new agreement was performed by Le Cordon Bleu President, Mr Andre Cointreau, with principals from local schools and government officials at one of Taiwan’s oldest and most famous Ming Tai High School, the Wufeng Lin Family Garden, significant for preserving some of the rarest examples of traditional Chinese garden architecture.

Le Cordon Bleu is especially proud to form an association with Ming Tai High School, an elite private school in Taichung, Taiwan, that offers upper-secondary vocational programs and courses with a strong food and beverage focus. Its departments of Food and Beverage and Tourism have more than 2000 students, learning in commercial-standard kitchens fitted with modern equipment ideal for teaching both Western and Chinese cuisine.

Joint-venture partner WorldLine operates diverse study tours and has broadened Ming Tai High School’s education business reach through providing a range of professional training courses.

It is expected that the Le Cordon Bleu Ming Tai Centre of Excellence will open and commence the new programme in July 2013. It will provide students with basic grounding in the skills and knowledge required for entry-level employment as a trainee chef or pastry chef within an English language work environment. The programme will comprise and offers articulation pathways into Le Cordon Bleu’s Culinary and Hospitality Programmes.

This represents the first Le Cordon Bleu Foundation Programme developed for senior high school students, built upon Le Cordon Bleu’s 110 years of tradition and excellence in delivering culinary educational programs. It underlines Le Cordon Bleu’s commitment to innovation and best practice in gastronomy, hospitality and management.

Celebrating culinary excellence is a hallmark of Le Cordon Bleu, one of the world’s leading schools for teaching classical French cuisine, pâtisserie and boulangerie. Since Le Cordon Bleu was established in Paris, France in 1895, the organisation has earned fame and respect for maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence. Each year, more than 20,000 students from 70 countries are trained at Le Cordon Bleu’s Institutes, which now stretch through 20 countries with more than 40 schools, in Paris, London, Madrid, Istanbul, Beirut, Tokyo, Ottawa, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Wellington, Sydney, Bangkok, Mexico City and Lima. Le Cordon Bleu also has been selected to open a training center in preparing of upcoming 2014 Football World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games with the government of Rio in Brazil and China to open the first Training Center in Shanghai as a Joint Venture, as well as a Joint Venture with National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism in Taiwan.

Mr Cointreau is delighted that Le Cordon Bleu’s extensive international network becomes significantly stronger in Taiwan through the new professional agreements signed with Ming Tai High School and Worldline International Education Company. It represents a very valuable and impressive fusion of traditional Chinese culture with longstanding French expertise, bringing together the finest elements distilled through proud and successful histories.
