What's Involved

Students nominate a preferred destination for their Professional Experience. Then, in consultation with Professional Development managers, an appropriate property and position is sourced. This decision will be dependant on the following:

  • The student's performance while at college - this includes academics results, attendance, personal presentation, feedback and recommendations from lecturing staff
  • Any previous industry experience
  • Availability and suitability of properties and positions at the students nominated destination.

During the placement period, a Professional Development manager makes regular contact with both the student and the employer to ensure that both parties are satisfied with the arrangement and to assess the student’s performance. Professional Experience is assessed using the following methods:

  • Industry assessments reports
  • Evidence of hours worked (if applicable)
  • Student work placement report and reflective journal

Assessment of the students performance during their placement and feedback to the student and college on this performance, are integral components of the placement program, the students development and preparation for their future careers.
