Language of cuisine honored

The 32nd International Symposium of the Foundation Alliance Française was held from 25-27 January in Paris. Schedule.

The conference, chaired by Mr. Jean-Pierre de Launoit, President of the Foundation Alliance Française and its’ General Secretary, Mr Jean-Claude Jacq, was based on the topic: "What language, what culture, in a world of digital entertainment?"

Many personalities participated: Christian Masset, General Director of Mondialisation, du Développement et des Partenariats (MAEE); Alain Rouquié, Chairman of La Maison d’Amerique Latine; writer Eduardo Manet; Elizabeth Béton-Delegue, Director of the American and Caribbean branches of the (MAEE); Enrique V. Iglesias, former President of Bank of Interamerican Development (BID); Bernard Kouchner, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs; Dominique Wolton, Research Director at (CNRS); Philippe Thureau-Dangin, Director of the newspaper ‘Courrier International’; Bruno Patino, Director of France Culture; Jean-Noël Jeanneney, historian and former Chairman of the (BNF); Catherine Tasca, former Minister of Culture; and Jean-François Khan, journalist and writer.

André Cointreau, President of Le Cordon Bleu also participated in this conference and shared his opinions on the theme with Mr. Karim Muttalib, General Director representing the Quai Branly Museum.

During Mr. André Cointreau’s intervention, a promotional video was shown presenting the international mission of Le Cordon Bleu.

On the subjects of language, communication, and cuisine, Mr. Cointreau exclaimed "... the language of cuisine is French, and French culinary arts are an essential component of our culture.” He concluded, "Le Cordon Bleu transmits French culinary techniques to serve every worldwide cuisine."

An evening gala was organized by Le Cordon Bleu to close this annual symposium of the Alliance Française Foundation, at the prestigious Quai Branly Museum – a site where cultures meet. The evening’s theme was dedicated to the 5 continents, apt, as the museum's galleries are full of primitive art collections.

The directors of the Alliances Françaises, the ambassadors, partners, and friends of both institutions were given the opportunity of taking an exclusive tour of the museum before attending a spectacular buffet presented by the Le Cordon Bleu students. The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of a large cake decorated with flags from around the world, developed by Le Cordon Bleu’s Chefs.
